lap Momin of Dälek and Third Culture Kings has launched a new project called BKGD Audio. And today, he’s shared a new track from that project, titled “Missin’.” It’s a tense, frantic, yet ethereal track that bridges stylistic elements of footwork, reggaeton and hip-hop (among other sounds) into an otherworldly blend of contrasting parts. It’s at once eerie and perfectly suited for the dancefloor, wherever that might be these days.
Momin says about the track in a statement, “The past 20 years of music, I feel, has been scripted and blueprinted by three legendary producers who are unfortunately no longer with us. J Dilla, DJ Rashad, and DJ Screw, to me, have shown us all of the brand new possibilities in sound, composition, and presentation. I was working on “Missin” and going for a Bad Bunny type of reggaeton vibe and felt like I could bring those three masters teachings to the genre. The past decade I’ve also been doing a style I developed called “Guido Philip Glass based on the minimalist arrangements of NYC composer Philip Glass with a more dancefloor driven vibe. “Missin” is my homage to all of these incredible artists. They are surely Missin in our world today physically, but will remain for the ages musically.”

“Missin’” will be released digitally on Friday via Internet & Weed.
